Topic > Essay on Global Warming: Is it a Real Problem?

Think of a person riding downhill on a bicycle with no brakes on the wheels and knowing that there is a large pane of glass positioned vertically somewhere along the road. The person is sensible enough to predict that if he continues to enjoy this ever-accelerating ride, he will soon collide with the invisible pane of glass. But he is so deeply happy with this journey that even after knowing of a certain accident awaiting him, unless he jumps off his bicycle, he is willing to go a little further for his personal fulfillment. Today we face a similar situation in which we are seemingly reluctant to help ourselves out of a potentially disastrous problem related to rising global temperatures. For as long as humans have existed, and long before, our earth has been a hospitable and welcoming place. habitable planet. No other planet so far known to human civilization has conditions so similar to Earth that are vital to sustain life on it. We have been gifted with greenery, fresh breeze of air, water and all the life support elements that we all need to survive. Earth's constant temperature, which supports life, is one of the vital aspects of our habitable planet. We are protected on the Earth's surface by a layer of gas known as the atmosphere that extends from the surface and slowly thins out into space. It is this layer of air that regulates the constant temperature at the Earth's surface, trapping reflected heat waves within reach of plants and animals, through the process known as the greenhouse effect (Mastrandrea). Greenhouse gases consist mainly of carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), nitrous oxide (N2O) and water vapor (Environmental Protection Agency). Without thermal coverage across nature... middle of paper... and we can't just wait for disaster to strike to see if this was just an ice-filled land phase. Instead, we should all focus on what human civilization has lacked for generations: earth-friendly energy sources. For now, it's time for the cyclist to jump off his bike that is speeding downhill, otherwise he will soon face the hidden accident that awaits us. This may be the time to act together and be bold, otherwise we may not even get a second chance. We could be hit violently by the force of nature just as the cyclist would fall in an accident. To avoid this, we should sacrifice what we have enjoyed. Having something is better than having nothing. Therefore, we want to preserve our ruined earth and return the planet to its green and cold times rather than lose the identity of the entire human civilization..
