Topic > Pet Psychology: People who live with a pet are the best…

While we were talking about pet psychology last semester, I decided to write about my pet. In my opinion, people who have pets are the best people to give you advice about dogs or any other pets. Maybe someone is a scientist or has studied dog behavior, but the real experts for dogs are the people who live with them, feed them, care for them and, most importantly: love them. Seven years ago I got my first pet, a golden retriever. I couldn't even imagine then how much it would mean to me. One day dad's cousin told us that if we want a dog we can come to them and get one because they have seven and can't sell them. At first we weren't sure if we wanted a dog, but we ended up going there. When I saw him and his family (the other puppies and their mom) for the first time I knew that he was the dog that would be my pet. One woman told me, “The first puppy in the litter that comes to you should be your pet.” I listened to his advice and chose that puppy. He was chubby and slightly awkward. As he ran towards me he was drooling but also smiling as if he was happy to see someone new. At that moment I was happy that we had decided to come. When he arrived at his new home he explored everything. Cats were the most interesting thing to him, but they were not docile. One day he got too close to one of my grandmother's cats and she scratched him on the face. He was so sad as if he had done something wrong. The cats were afraid of a cute little dog...I couldn't believe it. Because he was persistent and courageous, I gave him the name Zeus. In Greek mythology, Zeus is the ruler of Mount Olympus, the god of the sky and thunder, but my Zeus... he's actually afraid of thunder. Luckily, that's the only thing he's afraid of. It wasn't just Zeus p...... middle of paper ......d ripped the skin from his side. Luckily he is fine now and has no scar. Actually…we don't see a scar since he has long hair. The second time he almost died. On his belly he had a big chigoe. The vet told us that if we had noticed him just a few minutes later Zeus would have died. That day was terrible for my family. One thing is for sure... everyone in my family loves Zeus. We are all very close to him and now I can't imagine my life without him. We never thought an animal could mean so much to us. I think animals can be great friends. They never complain, they listen (or at least know how to pretend to listen) and will always welcome you with joy. Zeus is always here, no matter if I am happy, sad, angry, with makeup or without makeup... He will come to me, look at me or simply cuddle me to show me that someone is here for me... always!
