There have been important discoveries that have led to better and improved health services. For example, computerization has helped in many areas of the medical field, such as improving cancer treatment and the like. Life expectancy rose to 78.7 in 2013, a record number since the colonial period (Howe, 1990). There was also the invention of great and scientific medicines that ensured that a person's life could be prolonged. For example, anti-rectal viral drugs (ARV) are known to help a person fight HIV and AIDS viruses in the body, thereby extending life expectancy by several years. The government also allocates millions of shillings which should be used by research and development institutions to come up with findings on current issues in the healthcare sector. All these medical efforts lead to a reduction in mortality rates overall. Some families living below the poverty line, as seen in the video, will therefore be forced to choose between medical care and other basic needs. The few funds that remain are supposed to take care of family members, of which there are few to support them all and therefore lead to some cases of hunger and starvation. The age-adjusted death rate in the United States decreased 1.1 percent from 2011 to 2012 to an all-time low of 732.8 per cent.
