INTRODUCTIONThe essential component of life can be recognized and is made up of a nucleic acid known as DNA. DNA is the shortened form of the word deoxyribonucleic acid and is the “carrier of genetic information” (McMurry, Ballantine, Hoeger, & Peterson, 1992, p. 775). DNA contains the genetic instructions necessary for an organism to develop, survive and replicate, as it plays a crucial role in living systems that makes each species unique and distinctive. Faceted material is stored in every cell of every living organism and contains information about our nature, appearance, performance, etc. With the instructions it contains, DNA is passed from the adult organism to its offspring during reproduction. (McMurry, Ballantine, Hoeger, & Peterson, 1992, pg.777). LOCATION OF DNADNA is located inside the cell called the nucleus. Since cells are extremely small and each organism has many DNA molecules per cell, each DNA molecule must be tightly packaged together and this is called a chromosome. A chromosome is a solitary piece of DNATHE DISCOVERY OF DNAThe discovery of DNA is truly mind-blowing. It is said that James Watson and Francis Crick discovered DNA, but in reality this is not the case. It all began in 1869, with a noted German biochemist named Friedrich Miescher who isolated, analyzed, and recognized a distinctive macromolecule known as DNA. Years later, on the morning of February 28, 1953, Watson and Crick entered the scene, announcing that they “had discovered the secret of life” (Markel 2013). Their discovery of the double helix prompted them to publish a paper in the 1953 issue of Nature, describing the structure of DNA, which led to them receiving the Nobel Prize in 1962.T...... middle of paper .... .where his son is. Ironically, the jury found her indisputably "not guilty of murder, manslaughter, and child abuse" and Casey Anthony was not charged with first-degree murder, as there was no equitable doubt. These two cases share many similarities, but differ in some ways. Both cases were overturned at some point, but remained slightly unsolved. Between these two cases, the murder of Caylee Anthony made America angrily outraged when Casey Anthony was found “not guilty.” SUMMARY DNA is constantly evolving as it has developed various aspects of illicit cases, as well as playing vital roles in all cellular systems. The discovery of DNA has had an impact and will unleash the fuel for new discoveries further into the future. DNA not only significantly influences the function of a cell, but helps the species develop and reproduce, despite altered conditions.
