In chapter 7, Tambu explains to readers that Lucia and Maiguru were both right about meeting men. Lucia suggests joining the men as they talk about her so she can have free will to defend herself and help make a decision about the relationship and pregnancy. Maiguru suggested he stay out of it because he believes it's none of his business. However, as the trial unfolds, Tambu also explains to the reader how the women are mere reflections. Based on what we expect from African culture and what we read in the book, I believe Tambu is saying that woman is a “reflection” of man. Because of “reflection”, there is a sense of empowerment because Babamukuru and the men of the family are giving limitations and restrictions to the women of the family. Similar to what is happening in the book, it is also happening to women in this country and how there are limitations and women's reflections on how she represents the man and how she is represented in general. According to Tambu's description, whatever the woman does in public is a representation of the man. This method is a bit like how children are treated and how the child's behavior is a representation of the parents. This is why I believe men discuss what the woman did by themselves. He did something wrong and, like parents or someone with high authority, the men argued about what to do with the situation. I also have the feeling that it also affects the success of the woman. For example, at the beginning of the book, Tambu describes her aunt as educated and very intelligent, but in reality she is trapped in her marriage because her success in education is a reflection on Baamukuru. This is one of the main reasons why Maiguru... halfway... earns money just like men do. In conclusion, Tambu and the other women are trapped in a male-dominated environment. society and are reflections of the men of the family. In the case of Takesure and Lucia, Lucia was the one who caused the most stir because she is a woman and "misbehaves" like a "good woman". Because of what is happening, Lucia feels that she should define herself, but men and some women don't think it's a good idea because it's not one of her concerns. Agree with Tambu, there needs to be a mix of men and women discussing the relationship and pregnancy, but it's semi-impossible when men use their egos to create boundaries for women. Similar to the book, there are women from different cultures who are addressing this issue with America. Also because of the media and advertising, we see some of these things as the norm.
