The popular question that has always been around: can money buy happiness? I was talking to a gentleman at work the other day. He had stated that he came from Europe with only 200 dollars in his pocket and he is still there and he is so successful. I asked him "Are you serious?" and he said yes and you can too; this bothered me. This is why so many people come to America, right? Immigrants from all over insist on coming here because it is the land of dreams and you can earn millions…..NO! We watch TV and listen to these people talking about how easy it is and that we can all do it. Maybe, but it's stressful and horrible. No one ever wonders if the rich struggle or question their lives. Most studies show that rich people are happy, but the same is true for poor or middle-class people. However, most of these surveys are based on selling something to that person. So these studies aren't all that true. If you look rich, people have higher taxes and very stressful jobs. Additionally, they also have higher divorce rates. The bottom line is that money cannot buy happiness, nor does it mean you will be successful. Now, don't get me wrong, you may be happy for a short period of time until reality and all the extra stuff hits. This would explain why people who win the lottery, for example, don't stay rich for long. People buy larger homes but don't realize how much the property taxes are on that property and still don't have enough to pay them over the years. The same reason why people who have undergone extreme renovations have never been able to maintain those homes that were built for them. Trying to keep up with the Joneses so to speak would be stressful for anyone. Rich people also struggle with stereotypes and even the way they are... middle of paper... speak. Limit television and electronic devices or even unplug them. Television is one of the biggest downfalls of our society. These shows show them the way or even the Internet. Sending text or instant messages in code so parents can't understand what they're saying, isn't that where we go wrong? The rich have more access to electronics and television. In general, those from poor families usually do not have a television or one. While those from wealthy families grow up with a television in practically every room and can watch whatever they want. No matter where we are or what we gain at the end of the day, there seems to be added pressure. While poorer people may have to worry about some things, rich people have bigger problems with mental health and their children. Being rich or having more money doesn't make you happy; it just adds pressure in the worst areas.
