Topic > The Use of Propaganda in World War II - 676

Propaganda is the art of persuasion and had a great influence on World War II. Each country involved in the war had its own way of using propaganda to influence the public in different ways. Some countries have been more forceful in presenting their propaganda to their country. Many types of propaganda were used during World War II. Books, radio, films, comics and posters were aimed at the public to instill them in a certain mindset about war. Each country's propaganda had different effects on the public. Nazi Germany's use of propaganda had a greater impact on the public than the propaganda of Canada, the United States, and Great Britain. Nazi Germany's use of propaganda was very different from Canada's and therefore had a much greater impact on society. Canadian propaganda consisted primarily of posters and occasionally radio. Posters published by Canada during the Second World War focused primarily on the benefits of war and its glorification. Many posters guided the public to purchase victory bonds, ration the few supplies they had, and how great the fight for freedom was. Nazi Germany's propaganda ranged from newspapers to films. Germany has imposed a negative mentality on its country. They put the public in the mindset that all the Jews, Communists and anyone else Germany saw as a threat, were at the bottom and were worth less than anyone else. The difference between Canada and Nazi Germany's use of propaganda was that Canada used propaganda to put their country in a positive light. While Germany, on the other hand, puts their country in a negative mental position. Germany used propaganda other than war glorification, unlike Canada, which had a greater impact on the public. During World War II, the United States and Nazi Germany...... middle of paper ......mes, promoted hatred against Jews, as well as bombed enemy countries. Nazi Germany wanted children on their side, unlike Britain who did not want children involved in the war. Because Germany involved their children in propaganda by creating board games, comics, and movies, it was much easier for them to gain control and think of themselves. This had a great impact not only on German children, but also on their adults. It is clear that Canada, the United States, Great Britain, and Nazi Germany had different methods of using propaganda during World War II. Nazi Germany's propaganda had a greater impact on the public in all these countries because it was not about glorifying the war, they were much more forceful in their use of radio and they took control of children. Propaganda uses prejudice to advance a political cause, and Nazi Germany had the most powerful propaganda of World War II.
