According to Temple University, “Psychologists used functional magnetic resonance imaging scans on 40 adolescents and adults to determine whether there are differences in brain activity when adolescents are alone or with their friends. The findings suggest that Adolescent peer pressure has a distinct effect on brain signals involving risk and reward, helping to explain why young people are more likely to misbehave and take risks when their friends are watching them of the main reasons why teenagers shop and occasionally fall into drug abuse. It has a major impact on teenagers. There are different types of peer pressure there is the positive kind that people rarely recognize but there are ways you can prevent it from affecting you. Teens need to find a way to fend off peer pressure. On average, almost all teenagers in America have had to deal with peer pressure in some way. Teen flu is affected by most young adults who suffer from it at some point in their lives. Jeanie Lerche Davis, an author who also wrote an article on why teens rebel, expressed the effects of peer pressure: “Statistics show that 30% of teens have stolen at least once due to peer pressure . Over half of teenagers will experiment with alcohol. About 40% of teenagers have tried drugs." Many teenagers face this pressure on a daily basis. They struggle to get out of these situations. Even the average teenager has pushed others to do the same without even realizing it. This is known as indirect peer pressure. You may be worried about being teased, excluded, or embarrassed. says Christopher Pepper, author of the article: “Your decisions...... middle of paper...... http://web.a.ebscohost.com/ehost/detail?vid=4&sid=be085f50- 81c9 -469f-b752-d6dbb4436e48%40sessionmgr4005&hid=4107&bdata=JnNpdGU9ZWhvc3QtbGl2ZQ%3d%3d#db=ulh&AN=87658577Jenuhh0. “Peer Pressure: The Effects on Adolescents.” Teaching issues.
