In the novel "The Hunger Games" by Suzanne Collins, the story begins by describing the difficult life of a girl named Katniss and her family. They struggle to get enough food and survive day after day. Katniss finds herself in a game called "The Hunger Games" that pits her against twenty-three other teenagers from the twelve districts of Panem. The game is televised as entertainment for the public and normally only one player survives, however this year's game does not follow the normal pattern. Katniss and Peeta, who are the male and female "tributes" of District Twelve, end up as the final players and instead of fighting each other they decide to end their lives by eating poisonous berries, but before that can happen they are both declared victors. In the plot the protagonist of the story is Katniss Everdeen, a strong and resourceful 16-year-old girl from District 12, who is an expert hunter who takes care of her family because her father died in a coal mine accident years ago. The antagonist of the story is President Snow, he and the people of the capital have started the Hunger Games and make innocent people fight each other for fun. In the story's introduction Katniss is a poor girl from District 12 who is the main breadwinner of her family. She is selected to be a volunteer tribute in her sister's place when she was selected. Together with Peeta, the male tribute from District 12, they head to the capital to start the games, but first they must train together with the other tributes. In the escalating action of days of training, the games begin and Peeta and Katniss must push each other to the brink to survive against the other tributes. After many intense and combat-filled days... mid-card... on Survivor's part, mostly because you have to be pretty crafty to get very far in the games. It would only be sheer determination that would make the tributes win and lose. Plus, who doesn't love that song for any sport that's inspirational, can anyone say Rocky? If I could ask Katniss any questions, I would ask her if she could teach me how to shoot a bow so I can hit squirrels between the eyes because I think it's a good life skill in case something like a post apocalyptic wasteland happens . One question I would like to ask is is she in love with Peeta or Gale? I'm sure I would give her a hard time considering she seems very confused with the whole thing. So you can see that "The Hunger Games" is a deadly unforgiving book about Peeta and Katniss' journey to win the Hunger Games and return to their home. They soon realize that this fight won't be all it seems.
