Some say teenagers can't make a difference. Well there are many examples that say the opposite. There are many teenagers around the world who have invented something to change the world for the better, whether it is inventing a weapon or commanding huge armies to win almost impossible battles. Many teenagers have helped shape the world more than others, but there are some who have done things that most adults couldn't do. One teenager who made a difference was Samuel Colt; was born in Connecticut in the year 1814 on the 19th of July. He was inspired to build the revolver when he was on a boat and the ship's rudder intrigued him, especially the fact that it could alternately turn or be locked in a fixed position with the use of a clutch. Samuel Colt invented a revolver that could be fired multiple times before having to be reloaded. Then, in 1846, during the Mexican War, the U.S. government ordered 1,000 revolvers from Samuel Colt. As business grew, he had to increase production, so in 1855 Colt opened the largest private armaments factory in the world. With its production line full of skilled workers, it could produce 150 firearms in a day. Samuel Colt created this revolver that is used today when he was 16 years old (Samuel Colt). Without the Colt revolver who knows if we would have won all the wars we have won, so this just goes to show that teenagers can make a difference. Another boy who changed history forever was Alexander the Great. Alexander the Great was one of the best commanders in the world at the age of 18. Even though he only became king at the age of 20, he still led his companions through many great victories. . When he inherited his army from his father Philip, who was a murderer... middle of paper... While not all teenagers have a positive effect on the world, most of them do. You don't have to invent a weapon or lead an army to victory to make a difference. So there's proof that teenagers can make a difference. All teenagers have the power to change the world, but some simply don't know how to use it. Works Cited "Alexander the Great". 2013. The History Channel website. November 4, 2013, 5:31 am.
