ReincarnationBruce Whittier had repetitive dreams of being a Jew hiding in a house with his family. The Jewish man's name was Stefan Horowitz, a Dutch Jew who was discovered in his hiding place along with his family and taken to Auschwitz, the deadliest concentration camp, where he later died. Bruce claimed that the dreams he had were unnaturally vivid. He began recording his dreams and one night he dreamed of a clock. After Whittier awoke, he drew the clock in exceptional detail. Bruce remembered dreaming of the location of an old antique shop with the same clock he had dreamed of. Determined to see if the watch was real, Whittier went to the store and saw the same watch in his dreams displayed in a window. Intrigued, Bruce asked the store clerk where it came from. The seller claimed to have purchased the watch from a retired German major in the Netherlands. Bruce Whittier was convinced he was living a past life (10 Interesting np). While Jews believe in incarnation, numerous other cultures and religions, such as Hinduism, believe in the theory of reincarnation. Morrie Schwartz clings to the belief that one day he too will be reincarnated. Based on Jewish belief and Morrie's findings on reincarnation, we can conclude that death may not be the end, but only the beginning. So, what is reincarnation? Reincarnation is the rebirth of a soul in a new body; a continuous cycle with many new beginnings. One of the main factors contributing to reincarnation is karma. Karma is the belief that what you do will come back to you. People often confuse karma with destiny, which is not true. Destiny is a predetermined course of events or, as they say, written in the stars. For example, a boy bullies a schoolmate and later ends up working... middle of paper... completely different. The ALS diagnosis has left Morrie with a disability in his lower torso, meaning he won't be able to use his legs for the rest of his life. Morrie wants to be a gazelle in his next life so he can once again enjoy the pleasure of moving without help. Instead of a punishment, Morrie believes that being an animal is a gift. People face many different challenges every day. But there is an obstacle we will all face, something we cannot escape; death. As early as Biblical times, humans found ways to make death more attractive. Reincarnation and incarnation are just two of hundreds of beliefs about the afterlife. Morrie Schwartz found comfort in death, as did the rest of the world. Based on the Jewish faith and Morrie's conclusion on reincarnation, we can decide that death cannot only close the doors of opportunity for us, but rather open others as well..
