Colorado's recreational marijuana shops make history” CNN. CNN. January 1, 2014. Web. March 23, 2014. Michael Martinez discussed the topic of medical marijuana in Colorado in his article "Colorado Recreational Marijuana Stores Make History," published on cnn.com. Martinez tells us that the sale of recreational marijuana in Colorado has gone very well. He says there was little ruckus when shops opened their doors to the general public. Martinez tells us that Sean Azzariti was the first person to purchase recreational marijuana at the 3D Cannabis Center. Martinez says Sean Azzariti needed medical marijuana to deal with his PTSD after two tours in Iraq, but Colorado doesn't define PTSD as a legitimate reason for medical marijuana use . Sean was very happy to purchase recreational marijuana to relieve stress and anxiety. Second, Martinez informs us that the lines were so long and massive that stores had to limit sales to one-eighth of an ounce. Third, Martinez talks about how Colorado citizens were thrilled that “Prohibition is over,” blared a flyer for a New Year's Eve celebration at Casselman's Bar in Denver. He also says some people are against it and believe it is harmful to people in recovery and children. Finally, Martinez talks about how not everyone adopts the law, because communities are allowed to ban the sale of marijuana in their community. Martinez's summary of the events that occurred was very good and exposed a neutral side of the situation. This academic journal claims that many young people...... middle of paper......have learned to break the law, or even legalize marijuana altogether. Nadelmann says marijuana users make up the largest percentage of people in drug help centers or rehab centers, but he says "fewer than one in five people" did so by choice, a justice system or because they didn't have passed a drug test for work or school, Nadelmann says. He also raises the point that some people want marijuana to be medically legal. He says the government says there's no such thing as medical marijuana, but Nadelmann says the government has several court-certified patients from a few years earlier. According to Nadelmann, one of the biggest problems with legalizing marijuana is government involvement. He says many people want to see marijuana legalization as the end of prohibition, where the government will regulate and tax the sale of marijuana..
