In recent discussions about Michael Noer's article "Don't Marry Career Women", a controversial question has been whether Noer's sources are credible or less. A contributing factor is that Noer does not include a reference document. While this does not necessarily discredit it, it does nothing to strengthen it. In her article, Noer states, “If they [career women] quit their jobs and stayed home with the kids, they would be unhappy.” This statement is his interpretation of the studies recorded in the “Journal of Marriage and Family”. Many people have suggested that Noer is lying about what his sources say. From this perspective, people will believe that his argument is invalid and should not be taken seriously. Others argue that his sources are credible and that his theory should be taken into consideration. In summary, the main question is whether Noers' article is credible or not, and if it is, then how will it affect our lives. The “Journal of Marriage and Family” covers a broad spectrum of different aspects of marriage and family. In one part, “Satisfaction with work and family life: no evidence of cultural reversal,” he covers the work of Professor Arlie Russel Hochschild. Hochschild notes that more and more people are starting to use their homes as shelters, whereas in the past the opposite was the case. During his studies, Hochschild examines parts of the nation. With this sample, Hochschild discovered many facts about workforce change and individual change. One fact she managed to discover with her sample is that female employment increased by 25% over a period of 24 years. With a deeper look at the studies, she found that female employment has increased rapidly among married women who have... half the paper... Corcoran (she says herself: "I've been working since the day I graduated, 20+ years old, I have two elementary school aged children. The job definitely requires me to do more than 35 hours a week. Luckily, I seem to make over $30,000 which, according to Michael, should make me a miserable wife. Despite these dangerous statistics, my husband and I are about to celebrate our 18th wedding anniversary. therefore she is one of the few career women who have a strong family life Corcoran's argument is less valid than Noer's because she claims opinions and does not take into consideration the possibility of examining the studies conducted on the topic.
