The Stars Are My DestinationIntroduction'...The key turned in the lock of his soul and the door opened. What emerged erased the Common Man forever.';The Stars My Destination ~pg 22Gully Foyle. Uneducated. No skills. No credit. No recommendations. A brief description given by author Alfred Bester of his main character as humanity's stereotypical common man. A man who later became motivated to become more than just a "just" man. In the few pages of the first chapter, Bester had dragged me into the diluted and bizarre mind of Gully Foyle. The story... At the beginning of the story, Gulliver Foyle awaited death aboard the destroyed ship NOMAD in deep space. It's been six months since the NOMAD was left to rust. Foyle was the only survivor. They had given him a new name and a tattoo on his face: NOMAD. Foyle knew he couldn't stay. He still had unfinished business and so managed to get rid of the asteroid with a vengeance that burned even higher. After escaping the asteroid Sargasso, Foyle was later captured by the Navy and
