In Abrams v. US, was arrested for "protesting". In our freedom of speech, we have the right to protest, as long as the situation does not become potentially dangerous. Abrams was arrested because he had threatened the life of the current president in his protests. He was a Russian immigrant who was in New York City trying to bring anarchy and attempted to organize a “general strike against the government's policy of intervention” (Polenberg 4) and condemned President Woodrow for sending troops to Russia. They testified that it was Abraham's right to protest, but the defense was rejected due to the Sedition Act (which covers a wider range of previously permitted offences) of 16 May 1981, stating that the way he had threatened others was wrong.
