It has 2 shareholders, the Government of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region now with the 52 % and The Walt Disney Company now with 48%. This company operates and owns the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, which includes a theme park, 2 hotels and the Inspiration Lake leisure center. The Hong Kong government believed that the construction of the Disneyland Resort could invest in tourism. One of the 4 pillar economic sectors of Hong Kong suggested by a few years later, it could increase the attractiveness of Hong Kong and help the Hong Kong economy. Furthermore, The Walt Disney Company believes that Hong Kong is a new market because it is a stepping stone to enter the Chinese market.
