It is affecting different sectors in various forms. The main forms of corruption are political corruption, bureaucratic corruption and economic corruption (Chêne, 2012). Political corruption occurred during the 2010 general elections and the 2012 parliamentary by-elections, which were characterized by fraud and irregularities. As a result, the pro-military party won almost 80% of the seats available for the elections (Bertelsmann Foundation, 2012). Bureaucratic corruption is the most serious form of corruption affecting the public sector and service delivery. It is widespread and has become a major barrier to trade and investment for growth and development (Chêne, 2012).
