The Story of Harriet Tubman Even though Harriet Tubman had to break the law, she should be considered a heroine because she had freed over three hundred slaves. He also joined the subway and was a train conductor. He was also gracious when he died by donating his home to a church. She was so famous that governors knew her. That was the life of a hero. It was 1819 when Araminta Rose was born. At 11 her name was changed from Araminta to Harriet Rose. The name was given from the name of his parents. Harriet knows very little about these things and knew she had pure African American heritage. She was born and lived in Tidewater, Maryland, Dorchester County. Even though he was young, he had suffered painful whippings. when he still did what the overseer wanted him to do. So we all know how teenagers behaved.
