Body image seems to be a very important thing when it comes to just development. At some point everyone worries about their body image and appearance. Your body image is how you personally feel about your body. Despite what they say and the opinions of others, most of the time people have a personalized image of how they look, regardless of whether that's what they actually look like or not. Some people have a good body image of themselves while others do not. Very often girls have bigger problems with body image than boys, but boys also sometimes have body image problems. The problem with body image usually occurs during adolescence and continues into middle age. It's good to have a positive body image of yourself because it makes you feel better about yourself, people with a negative body image of themselves can take drastic measures to try to change it and this can harm them. The media plays an important role when it comes to body image because it shows these idealistic bodies that men and women should have. Someone who has a positive body image of themselves is someone who feels good about the body they are in. They may have small problems with their body but for the most part they are happy with what they have and feel good about it. Someone who has a negative body image of themselves doesn't like the way they look because they think they might be too small or maybe too big etc. Body image is not always permanent as you get older and develop new things your body image can change. It is up to the individual to decide whether or not they are happy with their skin. A person must feel good about themselves before anything else in order to accept themselves. According to Rai……half a paper……and themselves to younger women. Women's magazines promote weight loss, diet, and exercise much more than men's magazines do (Guillen & Barr, 1994). Many believe that mostly only teenagers have eating disorders but this is not true. Even middle-aged people suffer from eating disorders. The longer eating disorders go untreated they can cause very harmful effects. In conclusion we see how body image, even if it may seem like a minor thing, can significantly influence individuals. Whether positive or negative, body image always plays a role in an individual's life and everyone is affected by it in different ways. We see significant repetition when it comes to girls who don't like their bodies. Boys also try to become taller and more muscular. Everyone has an ideal body image that they wish to have, and some simply feel comfortable in their own skin.
