Over the course of the year, we learned about several amendments to our Constitution. And as we all know, it is the most important document in our country for its protection. Get an Original Essay In the United States Constitution, the First Amendment talks about freedom of the press. But what exactly does “freedom of the press” include? The First Amendment “is generally understood as a way to prevent the government from interfering with the distribution of information and opinions. Because of all the freedoms and power that the country gives to the media, sometimes most of the media ends up using the power for good. This abuse of power can create and/or introduce many problems, one of which is media bias. Be part of the debate As always, there are two sides to every debate. A journalism teacher at Warwick Valley High School, Miss Markt firmly believes there is no bias in the media. When asked about it, she said: “Journalism is about reporting the truth. It is absurd that we talk about fake news when there is evidence and documentation of something that is happening." He continued, “I know some people think that picking and choosing an article idea may be based on bias in the media, but all news media do this.” When we talk about media prejudice, due to what is happening in our country, we immediately think of fake news. Yes, there is a point made by Miss Markt with which one can agree. Fake news is very difficult to prove as most reputable media outlets not only show proof of the event but also have proper documentation. But media bias does not just consist of fake news. Returning to Miss Markt's justification, the selection and choice of an article can be presented as media bias. Yes, unfortunately almost all news outlets do this. But this is what we must completely remove from our society and the media world. As Miss Markt said. “Journalism is about reporting the truth.” This is what every news outlet should remember. Whether or not the news they present helps the political party they support, they must still present it to the world in its purest form. But what exactly is media bias?
