The 1995 classic, Clueless, directed by Amy Heckerling, a classic that was the inspiration for films like Mean Girls and other teen comedies. People don't know that it's actually inspired by the book Emma by Jane Austen. Say no to plagiarism. Get a tailor-made essay on "Why Violent Video Games Shouldn't Be Banned"? Things don't go as planned when Tai suddenly ends up in the spotlight and Cher realizes that you can't change someone else to fit your standards. The main character of the story is a beautiful and rich Cher Horowitz. Cher lives in an expected mansion in Beverly Hills and flaunts her wealth with her fashion. When it comes to being the queen of Bronson Alcott High School, Cher definitely takes the crown. Cher finds herself playing matchmaker for two of her teachers and successfully negotiates her way from a C+ average to an A- average. This inspires her to use her matchmaking gift to help others. Along comes new girl Tai Frasier, an "ugly duckling" with a crush on a skater boy named Travis. Cher and Dionne decide to give Tai a makeover in an effort to help her transform her life. Cher's brother Josh tells her that it's not wise to try to fix anything or in this case anyone that isn't broken. The makeover helps Tai gain confidence and a sense of style, but it is only after a "near-death experience" at the mall that Tai goes from confident to arrogant and appears to become a threat to Cher's social status. From there Cher's life begins to fall apart, through a series of bad dates and a declining social status, she begins to realize that Josh was right all this time and, moreover, her life is not as perfect as she had imagined . At the end of the film, Cher realizes that Tai regains Cher's respect and friendship and begins dating Travis. Now the question is, does the plot help convey the message that "you can't change someone else to fit your standards"? I think so. The plot of Clueless executes this message perfectly, especially for a film of its time. Where the plot tends to fall short is the file details, which just seem to add to the film's running time. I think the initial matchmaking between teachers is a bit unnecessary. While it probably shows us some of Cher's "surface character", the story would be exactly the same without it. Even the toxic relationship between Dionne and Murray is nothing more than an irrelevant plot. It's a little funny at times, but I think there are a lot of funny moments without it. I think where they show the relationship between Dionne and Murray it would have been a better idea to build a stronger relationship between Cher and Josh, who are dating at the end of the film. It seems a little forced, especially considering that Josh is Cher's "ex" half-brother, a pretty important detail to forget. Please note: this is just an example. I say this because they both have the most difficult roles to play and they pull it off flawlessly. Alicia's work as Cher requires her to make sure she has a perfect execution of Cher's very rounded personality. It had to show charm and intelligence, all wrapped up in elegant, popular fashion. If Alicia Silverstone had played the character as too smart or too elegant, she would have changed the.
