Topic > Preparing Traditional Ghanaian Food

My family emigrated from Ghana, located in West Africa. We have been living in America for a few years now and still maintain our traditions. Things like food, tradition and practices shape my family today. African foods such as fufu, banku and rice are consumed more at home. These foods bring the family together by allowing us to talk every night. Fufu and banku cannot be achieved without family. This is because when it is on the stove, we have to support the person preparing the food by holding down the pan in which the food is prepared. While the pan is held down, we laugh and tell jokes. The practices also shaped the Attakora family. We believe that respect should be given to everyone, even the youngest. Even though children are respected, they are forced to be obedient when they are at home, so that this moral can stick with them in public. This means that when children are not at home, they will respect everyone they see outside. A tradition like that of eating together has shaped my family. It allowed us to get closer and share stories. Foods, practices and traditions have shaped the family because it has allowed us to come together with respect. This prevents disagreements in the house and makes us a happy family. Say no to plagiarism. Get a tailor-made essay on "Why Violent Video Games Shouldn't Be Banned"? Without respect, the family will be destroyed. In the Bible, God says to obey your parents and your elders. My family has taken this into consideration because we believe that if we do this, we will be blessed. Three things my family does to honor this value are teaching children what is right and wrong, how to communicate with God, and having a good role model in the home. Mr. and Mrs. Attakora taught the children in the home how to respect. We thought about how to ask or answer questions politely. Listening and studying what happens at home allows us to be respectful. Talking to God is another important moral that my family does to honor this value. We believe that if we communicate with the Almighty, he will guide us and show us the right things that should be done. We do all these things because they allow us to leave a benevolent and respectful life.
