These are the fundamental questions I sought answers to when considering my college options. If I were to explore my interests further, I would need a solid understanding of the fundamentals of physics, and the College of Arts and Sciences, with its Physics major, fits my needs more than ideally. Its concentrations in "Physical Theory and Experimental Technique" and the opportunity to enter the Honors Program along with research guidance under the guidance of a faculty member serve as an outlet to not only strengthen my understanding of physics, but also as a means to promote my research interests. Even events don't lie! It is clear that the College of Arts and Sciences has already taken part in groundbreaking international research operations, the most recent example being the upcoming January 17 colloquium on the Dark Energy Survey (a crucial topic for those who want to understand the universe) by of which UPenn was a vital member. As the late Billy Mays said, "But wait, there's more!" How could I talk about research opportunities without mentioning CURF? The ability to work with seniors and faculty or immerse yourself in your own research projects as an undergraduate reminds me of a choose-your-own adventure book. Personally, as I try to chart a new path, I feel like I need to develop my foundation in research before diving in, and so I would try to learn and work at the same time. At the same time, I would also like to challenge myself academically, and honors courses in Physics at UPenn would be an amazing option to enrich myself academically.
