Topic > My interest in clinical biochemistry course

Biochemistry is an emerging field with numerous future prospects. Additionally, biochemists have a number of responsibilities. My interest in the course is primarily clinical, my motivation for selecting this course includes the responsibility that I believe is the most significant: finding cures for terminal illnesses and finding accessible ways to cure diseases. The most compelling discovery I ever made was during my academic year, when I was taught about cell signaling. Say no to plagiarism. Get a tailor-made essay on "Why Violent Video Games Shouldn't Be Banned"? Get an Original Essay The perfection with which the body coordinates is astonishing. It all starts with a stimulus, the message is then transmitted to an effector and produces a response. This simple three-step process guides life itself. The hormone-driven endocrine system, the neurotransmitter-driven nervous system, and the cytokine-driven immune system all follow the same three-step process. I would explore more about cell signaling in my next course. Spending numerous hours after school in the chemistry laboratory, I conducted experiments immobilizing enzymes and analyzing their efficiency in different cultures. I used different enzymes and substrates, running them in a range of pH levels and temperatures, and graphed the data. I worked on my experimental and analytical skills by conducting experiments such as titration, acid-base neutralization, and ion analysis. I have been an avid reader of Australasian Science since 2014, which has honed my skills to gain a deeper understanding of the impact of science on our daily lives. Apart from volunteering at the civil hospital and Rotary medical camps, I often attend awareness seminars at Shifa International Hospital, where top doctors and consultants from across the country conduct scientific sessions on healthcare topics. During a two-week internship at the Islamabad Diagnostic Center, I learned how a blood sample is taken and how it is tested for different purposes. The lipid profile of a blood sample should be taken from a patient who has fasted for at least 9 to 12 hours. Although ingested food does not affect HDL cholesterol, postprandial triglycerides remain elevated. The LDL count is also affected as it depends on the triglyceride count. I also saw how an MRI machine works and how patients are prepared before being scanned. My research skills were honed during my six-week internship at SASSI. Working with researchers with years of experience, I have learned to weed out false facts and identify what makes an opinion readable. I learned to recognize errors and biases and eliminated them in my research papers. Additionally, I learned how to present my research effectively. Together with the rest of my colleagues, I hosted a conference in Egypt. Although it was about the potential of trade between Pakistan and Egypt, the experience gave me a glimpse of future professional life. Being an active participant in extracurricular activities, I am part of my school's 4-H Club where I have been part of several projects that included tree planting and awareness campaigns. I also participated in WWF's international eco-internship program where I was taught how the change in the ecosystem affected several endangered species. I took part in the Pakistan Red Crescent first aid program and learned the basics of first aid. Additionally, I contributed to the Rotary Happy Schools project we worked for.
