Topic > Research report on Henry Ford and his social impact

IndexIntroductionResearchConclusionIntroduction Our presentation topic was Henry Ford, an American industrialist who revolutionized the automotive industry with his assembly line and production methods, greatly influencing the company. My two group members were Ata and Timothee. I did some general research on Henry Ford so I could help my group members divide up the work. After research, we divide our project into four main parts: historical context, focus on Henry Ford, Henry Ford's impact on the 20th century, and his impact for today's world. My part was to explain the Model-T. Furthermore, Ata and I have divided its impact into two general points: Industrial Impact and Social Impact. I was responsible for Henry Ford's Social Impact. That website provided great information for my research. On the other hand, since that was the Henry Ford Association website, I thought the information written on that site might be subjective. As a result, I looked at two more websites to make sure the information found on the first website matched other websites. After I finished looking at the websites, I began organizing my research to complete my part of the presentation. The first part was the Model T. In 1908, the production of the Model T was surprising news for both the automobile industry and American society. The Model T helped realize his dream: “to produce a car for the great multitude.” It sold a huge amount of its Model T and in those years 50% of global car production was Model T. To better understand, this equates to almost half of the cars parked in IE parking lots were all Model-T. Additionally, the Model T symbolized the transition from agricultural America to industrial America. My second part was about the social impact of Henry Ford. I divided its social impact into four different segments: urbanization, new job opportunities, new social class and modern tourism. As for urbanization, after the Model T people started moving to cities. It became easier for people to move around farms and cities and find work as automobiles replaced horses. The disappearance of horses as a means of transportation contributed to an agricultural revolution. Farmers became more integrated with the urban environment, which profoundly changed agriculture. To back up statistically, before Henry Ford only 25% of Americans lived in cities, but after Henry Ford that percentage rose to 62.5%. Henry Ford was not the only factor in this increase, but he had a significant impact on this population change. Secondly, new job opportunities have been created in these three areas: factories, petrol stations and road construction. As the number of cars on the roads increased, there was a need for more workers for gas stations and road construction. Additionally, as Henry Ford increased his production, his company needed more workers. Thirdly, Henry Ford increased the salary of his employees by 2.34 per day 5. This increase led to the creation of a new social class which is the “middle class”. Middle class people could do more than just survive, they could buy the Model-T and do more with it.
