Topic > Analysis of Children's Theater Styles

Children's theater is a mixed form of theater that includes a mixture of styles. The form of a children's theater show is a blend of many styles that work together to generate dramatic meaning. A fairy tale is a traditional story written specifically for children that usually involves imaginary creatures/characters and some sort of magic. My example of a fairy tale is Cinderella; the story is about a young girl with a sweet character. Her evil stepmother and stepsisters disliked her greatly and would not let her go to the ball, however, Cinderella's fairy godmother allowed her to participate with magic. She danced with the prince and they fell in love instantly. Since he had to leave by midnight, he ran and lost a shoe. The prince found the shoe and looked for it and when he found it they got married and lived happily ever after. This would be appropriate for a children's audience because they are more likely to be familiar with the story and enjoy it as most children do. Say no to plagiarism. A myth is a popular story invented in the past to explain natural events or to justify religious beliefs or a social phenomenon. My example myth is the most recognized symbol of love, Cupid. Once upon a time there was a girl named Psyche, men went to see her but no one wanted to marry her. Aphrodite, the god of beauty, was so upset that people didn't worship her that she asked her son Cupid to make Psyche fall in love with the most hideous creature. Cupid looked at the girl and fell in love with Psyche at first sight. One day, a voice told her that her family was coming to the mountain to visit her. He begged the voice to let him see them. The voice agreed but told her there was a consequence for doing so. When he met them, he filled his three sisters with jealousy. So much envy that they plotted to make her lose everything. Psyche did as she was told and discovered that the person she loved and whose voice was Cupid. Cupid was very angry and left her. Cupid finally went to find Psyche after realizing he still loved her and once he found him, he went to the gods and asked them to give Psyche immortality and formally marry them. Eventually, they got married, stayed on Olympus, and Aphrodite overcame her jealousy. This would be appropriate for a children's audience because it conveys a moral message which is "Don't love someone only from the outside because what matters is what's on the inside." 'A legend, a very old story, or a set of stories from ancient times that people tell about a famous event or person. My example of a legend is Robin Hood. Long ago, in England, in Sherwood Forest, there lived Robin Hood. As a boy Robin had been deceived by some nobles and had since decided that he would not spare the rich. He stole from the rich and gave to the poor. This story is suitable for children because it entertains and interests them. A fable is a short story to teach a moral lesson, often with animals or inanimate objects as characters. An example of a fable is "The Boy Who Cried Wolf". A shepherd boy, who was watching a flock of sheep near a village, brought out the villagers three or four times by shouting: "Wolf! Wolf!" and when his neighbors came to help him, they mocked them for their labors. The Wolf, however, finally arrived. The shepherd boy, now truly alarmed, shouted in a spasm of terror: "Please, come and help me; the Wolf is killing the sheep"; but this time no one paid any attention to him, nor offered him any help. The wolf, not having.
