Here in the United States we have an advantage because we are progressively moving towards eliminating old gender norms that limit women's ability to exceed in all aspects. Without satisfying all three consecutively it is not possible to have one. Let's focus first on the most important factor, the environment. This is someone who was elected to office, someone who is supposed to help make informed decisions for the people in this country. He went on to point out the “record lows” in temperature to further suggest that global warming is a hoax. Even our new president-elect Donald Trump has expressed his skepticism about global climate change. You might think that, seeing this, you might call these people fools, that you might show them empirical evidence to prove that it exists, indeed exists. It is truly sad to see the sentiment of such people echoed throughout our vast population. I honestly believe that many people in our country choose to look away from the issue at hand. One reason is that it's bad for business. We are a country based on capitalist ideals and always try to reap whatever we can sow, regardless of the consequences. Only recently have we started to see companies trying to make a difference and change their business models to be fair in all types of aspects of the business. Starbucks promotes fair trade and pays farmers for their coffee at competitive prices because it is unethical to pay them less, as they may accept it because they have no other choice. Panera Bread opts to purchase from local farms and also ethically purchase their coffee. Another big reason why people might turn the other cheek is that, in all honesty, it's pretty terrifying to come to terms with.
