The crime control policy that President Obama has focused heavily on has been the political agenda to try to stop gun-induced violence. In January of this year, President Obama made six proposals to address federal gun laws, requiring licensing and background checks for gun dealers, hiring more FBI personnel for background checks, hiring more agents to law enforcement, more funding for the treatment of the mentally ill, requiring gun traffickers to report lost or stolen guns, and more research into violence and gun safety (Obama's Gun Proposal, 2016). President Obama's gun control policies have been influenced by mass shootings in cities across America and his position has been to improve safety and reduce gun-induced.
