As signaled by an orchestra conductor, the katydids begin their chirping by matching the tone of the birds in a forest minuet. My friends run along the path to the falls to check on me and my hand, their boots thumping and resonating with the crackle of leaves beneath their feat, creating the percussion for the beautiful minuet. I close my eyes and imagine the conductor bringing together all these dark sounds and creating a beautiful melody with the instruments of life. The familiarity of the woods, the natural urge my body feels to be outside and be active in an environment that most people in today's society only really see in movies, if this reminds me of other woodland adventures, the citrus smell of pine mixed with the smells of wild herbs and various flowers create a bombardment of unparalleled scents. These scents stimulate the mind in a calming way, unlike any drug or music ever could.
