Johnathon Edward Sinner in the Hands of an Angry God In his sermon “Sinner in the Hands of an Angry God” Johnathon Edwards had his own belief about what would as with unsaved people. Johnathon Edwards' strong opinion on what would have happened if the unsaved people had not gathered together while on the earth. People were expected to be on the threshold of destruction to go to hell. He knew that God's powers were stronger than any of humanity's powers and that God would be able to drive them away. That an evil man who has a hateful purpose will be thrown into the fiery flames of hell. The devil is said to be nearby to see failure if he gets permission from God. Edward talked about a foolish man who does not follow in God's footsteps and how he will dig his own grave. He was telling people that there is nothing they can hide from God because He always knows what is going on in their immediate environment. It was said that "I am now the object of that same anger and wrath of God which expresses itself in the torments of hell" (Edwards 432). He was telling people that when they disobey and have no patience; God will send them a sign to let them know that they can repent of their sins otherwise hell will be the consequence when they die. In the Bible it says: “You have certainly placed them in slippery places; you have thrown them into destruction" (Psalm 73:18). That God will cast them to destruction when they are not reunited and are condemned not to reach heaven. Destruction means that when the time comes to die they will be looked at for how they live and the things they have done here on this earth. There is a lot of temptation that people have slipped into because they are tempted to behave badly when they should. The things that people were doing and not being saved would send them straight to hell because they know they are not going in the right direction. Destruction on the earth will one day slip and fall, as many great empires have done. Going through storms and fire in life to get to the obstacle that will get in the way so that that too will be defeated when you make yourself a better person. Being selfish and foolish is not a wise thing, because to become a wise man one must follow the leader. Trust the leader that everything will be okay and that he will have your best interest at heart. God's power is better than anything on earth. The Lord gets angry, but he has had a forgiving heart since the beginning of time. The Lord's love has shown the best aspect of how He frequents Him while His people live on the earth He created. Johnathon Edward wanted to give his congregation a point to get their lives together before God calls them home with him or condemns his non-worshipper to the fiery fire
