An example of this would be the film Behind the Labels, in which there are garment workers in Saipan who have worked for numerous US companies without being considered residents of US territories, even though they are. The working conditions are considered inhumane and unacceptable by US law, however permitted by federal law. Their lives and stories are hidden and unheard of by those residing in the United States. All the people of Saipan have worked for textile companies that have exploited and harmed them, but they must continue to work to obtain the means to do so
