Knowledge of NinjasEven though everyone knows their name, how much do we really know about ninjas? Sure, we see ninjas in movies and in our books, but what part of ninja history we have no idea about. This research paper will explain much of the history behind ninjas. “In modern films and comics, ninjas are portrayed in all-black clothing, with only their eyes showing. Real ninjas wore navy blue for night operations. Usually, however, they dressed to blend in with their targets” (History). Clothing was important to a ninja, but something even more important to a ninja were his weapons. They had a few main weapons, including: shinobigatana, medium-length swords, bo, naginata, warstaffs, and pikes (Kallie). Those weren't the only weapons the ninja used. In fact, they even invented some weapons. One of these was called a shuko, or iron harpoon, used by ninja for climbing. Another useful item invented by the ninja was the tessen, which was a sharp metal fan (History). There were three classes that ninjas could fall into. The highest level in the ninja social order was the Jonin. This ninja could be called “the tall man”. This ninja didn't take orders from anyone (Kallie). Chonin is the next level of the ninja social class. This ninja could be called “the middle man”. This ninja took orders from the Jonin. The Chonin also gave orders to the Genin (Kallie). There is another class in the ninja social class. The name of this class is Genin.
