Wanting to conduct a deductive research model, we hypothesize a negative correlation between the duration of residence in the United States and the level of influence of cultural values ​​on marriage. For this assignment, we analyzed the following sociological academic journals to elaborate and connect them to our research area:1. “Asian women past and present”: The challenge for working women is often described as a conflict between modern and traditional values. When Asian women pursue higher educational achievement and advanced careers, they often feel they are not following traditional values. From this article we recognize the struggle of Asian women based on the conflict of beliefs between modern and traditional. In contrast to ability and potential, there has been a negative influence of traditional values ​​for gender roles on Asian women.2. “Theorizing the Role of Relational Communication and Cultural Concepts in Marital Roles and Conceptions of Marriage”: This article highlights the preference of relational communication characteristics over attractiveness or physical ability, but to different standards depending on demographics. Asian cultures have been found to determine a good marriage by the husbands' ability to provide for the family's finances. Through this, we can see the Asian emphasis on the materialistic stability provided by the male of the family, in which he symbolically interprets the common value of men who should become the main supporter and leader of the family.3. “The Influence of Sex Role Identity and Occupational Outcomes on the Psychological Well-Being of Asian American Women”: Asian participants who self-identified as masculine and androgynous had a higher level of occupational achievement and had on average… middle of paper ......ge and small-scale decisions for Asian women are controlled or determined first by their parents, then by their husbands. In short, these cultural operations lock women into mental restrictions for societies to sustain the exclusivity of male dominance. Women are educated about helplessness within the family, indirectly through the factor called “respect”.10. “Family Satisfaction in Korean/American Marriages: An Exploratory Study of Korean Wives' Perceptions”: Asian couples' marriages appear to have more negative effects related to controlling for income, education, and ability, while American marriages have demonstrated that their relationship had less meaning to them. Through this article, we note Asian materialistic expectations symbolically driven by gender roles, reminding us of internal gender discrimination in an Asian culture.
