In high school we learned about different citation formats like MLA, APA, Chicago, etc. But in our articles the use of these formats was not something we really worried about. In college, quotes are a whole different ball game. First of all, if you use a source and don't cite it at the end of your paper, you could be expelled from school. It seems drastic, but in college everything counts and stealing others' words/ideas is a big deal and is not taken lightly. While this obviously sounds very scary, it is actually an easy problem to avoid. Just learn how to properly cite your sources, and don't forget to add your citation document to yours
