Through this journal, I have been able to recognize my mistake and realize how it may affect my patient's overall care. Patient protection is one of the most important roles of nurses. As a nursing student, it is time to step up and advocate for my patients in all circumstances. Although it can be difficult, advocating for patients is one of the most important roles of nurses. “To be effective advocates, nurses must be recognized, and recognize themselves, as equal partners within the multidisciplinary team.” (Hyland, 2002). Nurses and nursing students must take responsibility when it comes to advocating for their patients. My future nursing practice has now changed because I understand the importance of patient protection. I have to trust myself to know when I see something wrong, so I can speak up before it's too late. Thanks to this reflection I can see how trivial it was to worry about my own professional risk compared to the quality of my patient's care. I'm sure I'll never make this mistake again. As a healthcare provider, the well-being of patients should be a top priority,
