Topic > The Nurse Manager Skills Inventory - 1483

Introduction“The Nurse Manager Skills Inventory is a tool used by nurse managers and their supervisors to acquire the skills and behaviors of the nurse manager according to the requirements of a successful nurse leader” (American Association of Critical Care Nurses, 2006). This document will reflect what I have assessed myself with the use of the Nurse Manager Competency Inventory. Personal and professional responsibility What nurses do is care for patients and enable nurses to improve patient outcomes, quality, safety and cost distribution effective care is needed, data-driven research is needed and as this changes over time, ongoing training becomes necessary for nurses to maintain skills. “Research shows that some types of information technology can limit errors and improve care and efficiency” AONE Resource. (2016). I am competent in personal growth and development, as demonstrated in pursuing my BSN. Ethical behavior and practice, I got into nursing not to make money but because I hold nursing ethics and etiquette in high regard. I belong to only one association (National Association of Nigerian Nurses of North America). My plan is to join 2 or more professional associations after my graduation, which will be next month by the grace of God, as time is not in my favor right now. Ethical behavior and practice is my strength while certification is my biggest weakness and I really need to improve it now that I have started studying. Career Planning I am more or less knowledgeable about my job description and everything that is expected of me. About... halfway down the page... the company. What I'm trying to do is make them feel like they belong and are wanted, so they can take responsibility and be able to make their own decisions. When I have successfully achieved this goal, I will be able to expand my influence and take on new responsibilities or problems. Conclusion To effectively combine nursing leadership with advocacy, a high level of clinical expertise and knowledge is required and because during nursing school, students are often more concerned with developing clinical knowledge and skills and are less interested in nursing skills. Management and Leadership However, soon after graduation the new nurse finds himself in many situations that require leadership and management skills. This is why continuing nursing education is very important to provide greater understanding and clarification.
