Organizational Structure and Culture Introduction/Discussion Organizational structure and culture are two important elements in any company. Structure and culture are intertwined. In my current and previous organizations I have had the pleasure of participating in a reorganization that allowed a distinct vantage point and I have come to realize that my opening statement is absolutely true. Looking at both of these areas with respect to what our text might offer, rightly so, Fischer (2012) linked both structure and culture to covenant obligations. Organizational Structure Authority originated from God. Romans 13:1 says, “There is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God, so let every person be subject to the governing authorities.” We see in Genesis 1:28 that God put everything in its place, and then placed in the hands of man the ability to make decisions to care for the planet and rule over every animal. This is an excellent organizational structure model. Robbins (2009) defines organizational structure as the way “work activities are formally divided, grouped, and coordinated.” Jackson (1987) describes it as “a social system organized to achieve a particular type of goal”. Robbins further explains that Martinez (2015) asks, “Is it possible to change organizational culture?” He begins to answer this question in his article by saying succinctly: “The individual has a variety of expectations of the organization and the organization has a variety of expectations of him; Expectations like these are not written into any formal agreement between employee and organization, but they operate powerfully as determinants of behavior. (Martinez, 2015) This is where organizational culture is created and yes, if its definition is true, then I believe it can be
