Nowadays technology is advancing at a rapid pace. Scientists and engineers have come up with advanced technology that will help in the betterment of society. Many of these technological advancements are more just for entertainment purposes than for the betterment of society, but again many can argue against this. One such technological advancement is Google Glasses; an alternative to carrying an I-Pad and tablets of various sizes. Google started a project in April 2012 in one of its divisions called Google X. The project was called Project Glass and basically what the scientists and engineers did was solve a simple problem. This problem was the purpose for starting the project. They wanted to create a “wearable computer” that would allow people to explore and share the world from a first-person perspective. It also allows the user to experience a computer firsthand. This will allow users to stand in front of a computer and see the world and things around them at the same time without having to look down at the screen, which is the problem of today's society. This was the beginning of a new technological innovation for both computers and glasses. This new technology can use many apps, the Internet and call people. The user can also video conference with other people on Google Glasses, but the other person will not be able to see the user's face. Instead that person would see what the user sees. To begin with, the structure of Google glasses is such that they are wearable and convenient for the user to wear at all times. The overall frame of the glasses is very lightweight and the bridge support can be adjusted to the user's comfort. It runs on a lithium polymer battery with a capacity of 2.1 watt hours that lasts about... half as long as a sheet of paper... and projects images in the same way as it would with a regular google glass. Even though Google Glasses allows us to browse the web, answer a call or send messages, there has been a lot of controversy behind it. Google Glass can be considered a health hazard even on the roads. There have been several cases where people have been sent to court for wearing the device while driving as it obscures part of the user's vision. It can also cause eye problems as it is difficult to look at a screen with one eye and not both. Google glasses are an innovative and amazing technology. It's amazing how such a small technology can do so much. It's also surprising how small the piece is and how many microchips are inside. Google Glasses changes everything we know about making laptops and will one day help revamp laptops to make them even smaller.
