Introduction The meaning of leadership style is a topic that has sparked much controversial discussions. The term “leadership” has various meanings relating to the educator (Stogdill, 1974). This article defines leadership as the process by which a person, in this case a manager, manipulates others toward the realization of a certain goal (Stogdill, 1974). Most leadership studies have been directed at government agencies, militaries, and business organizations, with little attention paid to sports. However, a generally accepted conclusion is that the leadership style used by an organization has an effect on its performance outcomes. Leadership style has a direct impact on both employees and the overall success of the organization (Eisenbeiss, Knippenberg, & Boerner, 2008). Influences the effectiveness and execution of institutional strategies. Leaders are common actors, usually referred to as managers, in any institution, including golf club organizations. Leaders manipulate the employees around them so as to gain maximum benefit from an organization's resources. To achieve this they employ the use of various styles including autocratic, bureaucratic, democratic, charismatic, situational, transactional and transformational leadership styles. These management styles can have a positive or negative impact on employees. This essay therefore seeks to examine the impact of these leadership styles on employees with reference to golf club organisations. Autocratic Leadership Leaders of this style use the phrase “do what I say” in their management. Employees must follow their directions without question. This leadership style can be detrimental to the organization... middle of paper... as employees are resources it cannot do without. Works Cited Eisenbeiss, S., Knippenberg, D., & Boerner, S.
