My essay will discuss whether fine arts, fashion and designers are connected to each other. At the beginning of my essay I looked up the definition of Fine Arts, the term is used to distinguish the variation of creative art forms, developed by human beings. Some of the many concepts that fall into this category are painting, drawing, calligraphy, sculpture, etc. I agree that fine art uses many visually appealing methods that look graceful, like calligraphy, the work produced is quite delicate and pretty. The area of fine art I seek to specialize in is fashion - it is an expression in today's society that defines popular trends and style within clothing, footwear and accessories. I feel that many designers today create clothes, as a way to express their hard-to-understand innovations. Artists and designers are probably similar because they use similar creative techniques and media to plan and create their masterpieces. Art has always been a major influence in fashion, without the fine arts most of the vast selection of designs and clothes would not have existed in the past or even in the present day. Take Yves Saint Laurent's Mondrian dress, created in 1965. Yves Saint Laurent was inspired by the 1920s abstract geometric pattern painting of Piet Mondrian's work. Yves Saint Laurent realized in the 1960s that simplicity and flat surfaces were ideal for the development of the sack dress. Yves Saint Laurent's dress was later replicated many times due to its popularity. As demonstrated by Yves Saint Laurent, the patterns on clothes and other fabrics were not created by chance by the designer who created them. But in reality, artists' inspirations work. I believe that fashion is built on the art and culture of an entire era, yes...... middle of paper ...... its collections are works of art rather than clothes, simply because of the detail and the effort he puts into creating every aspect of his work and shows. He takes time to carefully plan what this event will consist of and how to capture the attention of his viewers. I feel that Chanel and Galliano represent fashion simply because of the impact and mark they have left on fashion, they are not famous simply for making a piece but for the way they think and how they have presented their work to the world.
