To maintain its reputation, Homeland must carefully evaluate its processes and operations which, indirectly or directly, result in greater customer satisfaction and therefore the promotion of the ideal reputation. Homeland can use Enterprise Performance Management analytical techniques to ultimately strengthen its corporate personality. The company as a whole as well as each individual department has key areas that need to be critically evaluated. Tracking inventory within each department is important for financial savings and having what you need when you need it, especially when it comes to the dietary department. Last year the dietary department undertook a challenge to reduce its food budget. A large amount of food waste (e.g. food that expired before it could be cooked, cooking more food than necessary for a particular meal, purchasing unnecessary food products, failing to compare prices between competing suppliers, etc.) had been identified in last year. The dietary department must also constantly monitor and respond to any significant weight loss of the resident. Weight loss is a desirable outcome for many in the general population, but significant weight loss in an older population receiving health care raises alarm bells. This wake-up call may lead to concerns from family residents about the effectiveness of National Health Care and its overall reputation as one of the best facilities in central Pennsylvania.
