Beauty can be an attractive trait or a way to find a partner or land the man of your dreams, but it will fade with time. As a person ages and luscious strands of hair turn gray, skin begins to wrinkle, and walking becomes slower and more difficult, the image in the mirror may not be as appealing as it once was. A person who seeks a life of true happiness will embrace their old age because it is an honor to have lived for so long and the knowledge and wisdom gained is much greater than the look or appearances one has endured. Aristotle says that “happiness above all seems to be of this character, since we always choose it for itself and never for anything else” (Aristotle 62). So many times society tries to paint a picture of what their idea of beauty is and uses models in magazines and fashion shows to portray what a beautiful person should look like. Hollywood uses propaganda to influence people to believe that they could experience happiness if they looked a certain way. Every individual was created in the image of God, and whatever God does is beautiful, even if it displeases or does not appeal to another person. Happiness is not due to how a person looks, but how they choose to live
