Biased MediaThe Craig and Bentley case hinges on the meaning of the words DerekBentley used on the roof the night of the shooting "Let him." These words could be interpreted in two ways. One way might mean shooting the police officer to get him away from Christopher Craig. Another way this could be interpreted is giving the gun to the policeman. I will discuss how the movie and the article are biased. The word "biased" means that something is emphasized more by one side than another without knowing the other facts that might change the meaning of the case. The article is rather biased and left out some important information that might convince the reader to think differently about the Craig and Bentley case. Derek Bentley had the mental age of a ten-year-old. Leaving this particular piece of information out was very important. If the journalist had included this information in the article, the reader might have felt some sympathy towards Derek Bentley and might have understood that a ten year old child is incapable of carrying out such a horrible act as inciting someone to murder . A gun wasn't fired until twenty minutes after Derek Bentley said "Leave it to him." This information was also left out of the article, which makes it seem biased because the reader would automatically think that when Derek Bentley said "Leave it to him "he meant to give him the gun. But omitting this information would persuade the reader to believe that the gun was used immediately after Derek Bentley said these words. Which leads the reader to think that Derek Bentley intended to shoot him. Journalists can easily make the reader think something that isn't even there by just leaving out some information. The article talks about the killing of Agent Miles in which the journalist used some emotional language, which could be prejudicial towards the two boys. "A family man with an expectant wife and two small children.
