Why people should recycleI'm not a big advocate for the earth, but I believe in recycling because I work at a local recycling center and I think recycling is a good thing. In fact I think everyone should recycle to make the earth a better place as a whole. Some good reasons why recycling is good: The more people recycle, the less space is filled in landfills. Additionally, when people recycle, they reuse materials, thus saving resources. Another good reason is that when you recycle you often get back the CRV you already paid for at the supermarket. If everyone recycled, think about how much more space there would be in landfills around the world. There is only so much space on this earth and we are using a huge portion of it for our garbage. Clearlake, California alone can take 80,000 pounds of trash to the local landfill on a busy day. I know this because I work at the local landfill in Mckinleyville. I also see many people throwing away their waste for the simple reason of being too lazy to sort it. I watch bag after bag of plastic, aluminum and glass thrown into the bin that we haul straight to a landfill in Anderson, California. If everyone in Mckinleyville recycled plastic, aluminum and glass, they could save thousands of pounds a day from landfill. I think people are not informed that waste is a big problem in this world. But in reality conservation is a problem and resources and energy are not too abundant. One day these resources will run out. But the more we recycle, the longer we can make these resources last. If everyone recycled, there would be less need for new materials to be made from unused resources; they would instead be made from recycled materials. Recycling saves a lot of natural resources because every time you turn something into the recycling center, some of it is reused in a future product. In fact, I once read that for every aluminum can recycled, a quarter is used to create a new can. That 25% can increase in the long run. When people don't recycle the plastic bottle, aluminum can or glass bottle that sits in the bin, it is only used once and then sent to landfill just to take up space.
