Already having a small footprint in Ontario is a perfect starting point for Panera. As with Panera's past growth, growth in Canada will be well calculated and planned with purpose. Panera is already examining Canadian operations to determine what problems have emerged for other companies, so it doesn't repeat the mistakes of others. Panera's unique fresh bread supply chain will pose the biggest challenge to expanding into any new market. Once Panera has determined where it wants to expand first in Canada, it must decide whether to build a new fresh produce supply facility or find a supplier that can deliver the supply to the area with the desired quality. Once this has been established, they can then begin working with developers in the area to find the most profitable new locations. Panera has done a great job in the past expanding with purpose, and there's no reason why expansion into Canada should be any one thing
