In the essay “Move over Boys, Make Room in the Crease”, the author, Sarah Maratta, explains the prejudice against women's involvement in sports. Maratta argues that women should be treated as equals in their aspirations to be involved in sport. Maratta has grown up all her life loving sports; in particular, she really liked hockey. In this essay we discover that not only does she have a passion for the ice and especially Canadian sport, but that she wants to see women treated equally in all aspects of the sporting world. As she discusses the flaws and mistreatment of women in the sports industry and society, she conveys a sense of urgency about making sports completely gender-unbiased and about the true love of the games. At a young age, the author experienced hockey for the first time. Maratta was fourteen and was fascinated by players. He loved how they had so much intensity and desire to win. At first, he didn't know what to think of the fights he saw in hockey, but he soon learned to accept it and even enjoy the fights. He began to appreciate hockey so much that he watched the sport regularly. Maratta immediately became a Columbus Blue Jackets fan. He attended games and even bought Blue Jacket gear. Hockey became his main hobby. She watched it, played it and even called herself a die-hard fan. But Sarah eventually realized that there was some problem with her and her new love. Since Maratta was a girl, there were complications with her passion for hockey. It explored the fact that some people didn't like the idea of girls playing sports. He understood that some people think that sport is reserved for men and that women should not be involved in it... middle of paper... We exploit them and belittle them. Women are capable athletes and there is a market for women's sports. There is no good reason why women should be excluded from playing sports. Women can be just as valuable and contribute to the sports industry as men. Sarah Maratta is an extraordinary woman who has experienced the evils of sexism in sports. It is not fair that women should be subjected to stereotypes and prejudicial circumstances. Women should have equal opportunities in everything. There should be no prejudice against them. Women should be given every opportunity to earn a job or position, whether it is sports-related or not. I am a supporter of Maratta's idea that there are no partial movements for women's equality. Women should have equal chances not only in sports, but also in life. When it comes to equality, there is no substitute.
