I was taught that there is only one way to write well. But as the years went by, I quickly realized that there is more than one way to create great writing. I recognized that all famous authors have their own writing style. Orwell, in my opinion, is an author who writes abstractly, while Didion is an author who writes tangibly. In his book Spanish Civil War, he states that he likes to keep his writings political and rigorous; “But it contains among other things a long chapter, full of newspaper quotes and the like, in defense of the Trotskyists accused of plotting with Franco” (4). Orwell claims to have included an entire chapter of newspaper quotes in his writings, which later led to much negative criticism and made him regret his choice. From the example presented by Orwell, his writing style is illustrated as political and adamant. On the other hand, Didion's writing is tangible. She likes to consolidate things she sees in the real world into her writing, in other words, blending reality with fiction. Didion describes herself using images in her mind to write, which the reader can see in many of her writings: “About the image: the first white space era. Empty space... This second image was something actually witnessed." Didion once wrote a story about a woman in an airport, something anyone could write about. But Didion made it extraordinary by using
