Wal-Mart should lead by example in determining what constitutes the values associated with its core purpose of corporate social responsibility. The four components of CSR are financial, legal, ethical and philanthropic (Barnett). Financial responsibilities related to CSR mean that society expects a business to produce goods and services needed and wanted by customers and to sell those goods and services at a reasonable price while still earning a profit. The organization strives to be efficient and profitable with the best interest of shareholders in mind (Barnett).
