The objective of this report is to present and discuss the management of field construction projects. These projects are time- and cost-intensive, so rigorous control and management are critical if they are to be completed within established time and cost constraints. The term construction management is applied to the provision of professional management services to the owner of a construction project with the goal of achieving high quality at low cost. A specialized project manager organizes, plans and supervises field work and is responsible for getting the project completed within time and cost constraints. It acts as a focal point for all aspects of the project and brings together the efforts of all organizations that contributed to the construction process. Project Management is a thriving professional discipline in high demand around the world. As a result, these licensed professionals can choose from a variety of potential employers, including both public and private sector clients and consultants with commercial or non-profit objectives. Typically, project managers will be appointed at the start of a project and will assist the client in developing the project brief and then selecting, appointing and coordinating the project team. He or she will then usually represent the client throughout the development process managing input from the client, consultants, contractors and other interested parties. Subsequently, if the client wishes to have more input into the construction and allow it to develop or mature over the course of construction, a member of the design team will be employed to make changes to the design where necessary or where the client has changed their mind.
