Vignette #4I was wrapped in my blanket like a butterfly in its cocoon. As soon as I started having a conscious thought about my crush, dancing, and my dreams turning into reality, my eyes opened as if I were facing Bruce Lee himself. Then I would jump out of bed while running with gazelles in sub-Saharan Africa. I landed softly in a squat position on the ground and immediately got into my dance battle position with a look of determination like Eminem. I knew today would be a beautiful day with the sun shining on me through the white curtains. When I noticed the dust from my desk floating in front of me, I copied its abrupt, jerky movements in the bathroom. I walked across the bathroom carpet like Tupac in a music video and arranged myself to look fresher than some new vans. My sister, as usual, crashed through the door yelling at me to take some time. She is older than the hills. Running out and doing a karate leap through my door while wearing the towel, I looked at the clock. “7:30,” I said in an arch voice and grabbed my plain white t-shirt, faded fake Lacoste jacket, and some khaki jeans. I looked in the mirror, licked my lips, did a quick rap, and did a quick bboy set. I started walking to school. That time I was hungry, I can eat a horse. While waiting for the walk signal to turn, I notice the extra kiss with the couples in front of the auditorium. I skipped past the auditorium knowing it was going to be a special day. Noticing out of the corner of my eye I can see couples kissing, matching and people exchanging roses. My eyes then looked at where my school house was located. All my friends I could see were livelier today and I heard the hedgehog came closer to the place. I dropped... the sheet of paper... my mind wandered, it started to think; disappointment began to creep into my heart. The thoughts I felt were disgusting "I bet I looked stupid holding a rose I bought that was meant for someone." I looked up and saw my friend Cleone laughing and leaning back being forceful with a girl. "Hey, how's it going Kleon?" I said sounding like Eazy-E. I handed him the rose and said, “You probably need it more than me.” He smiled and said "Haha, thanks man." I crossed the street with my friends and said to them, bobbing my head to catch the rhythm, "Man, wouldn't it be crazy if we went to Battle of the Year or America's Best Dance Crew?" I practiced windmills with majestic swinging kicks as if cutting through the air. My friends watched in amazement “oooh” and also waving their arms like gorillas glorifying the alpha male. It's raining cats and dogs after I get home.
